  30.             WHOIS/NICNAME is a NIC program that provides  an  electronic
  31.             ``white  pages'' of network entities.  WHOIS lists the name,
  32.             network mailbox, US postal address,  telephone  number,  and
  33.             host for all users registered with the NIC.  WHOIS also pro-
  34.             vides information about registered hosts, domains, and  net-
  35.             works,  including  the  names  and  addresses  of designated
  36.             points of  contact,  host  addresses,  and  domain  servers.
  37.             There  are  currently  more  than 75,000 users and points of
  38.             contact registered.
